WordPress Affiliate Program Plugins: 4 Merchant Options

5/5 - (1 vote)

Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through one, WPNeon earns a commission at no extra cost to you. See how we review.

Do you sell a product and want other publishers to refer customers for a commission? You need software that records referrals, attributes eligible orders, manages affiliate applications and supports payouts. You do not need a plugin that merely shortens your own outbound affiliate links.

Research note: this comparison uses publicly described product functionality, not hands-on tracking or payout tests. Current prices and integration coverage must be verified on each product’s checkout and documentation.

Match the program to your store

General WordPress affiliate program: evaluate AffiliateWP. Free starting point: investigate Affiliates Manager or Itthinx Affiliates and test the specific sales integration. WooCommerce store: compare YITH WooCommerce Affiliates. The right choice depends on attribution, refund handling and payout workflow—not the largest feature list.

1. AffiliateWP: dedicated WordPress program management

AffiliateWP interface example

AffiliateWP is intended for merchants running a referral program on their own WordPress site. Check its current supported integrations, onboarding experience, refund handling and payout options against your actual checkout flow before buying. A dashboard reporting referrals does not replace reconciling real payments.

2. Affiliates Manager: a free entry point

Affiliates Manager interface example

Affiliates Manager targets merchant referral tracking and commissions. Review its latest plugin description and any add-ons required by your payment system. Test an application, a tracked test purchase, an order refund and a payout report on staging before inviting real partners.

3. YITH WooCommerce Affiliates: WooCommerce-specific

YITH WooCommerce Affiliates interface

The YITH WooCommerce Affiliates directory listing documents a free plugin with paid upgrades and an active compatibility changelog. It is a logical product to inspect when WooCommerce is already your checkout system. Review how orders, refunds, commissions and affiliate withdrawals work at your intended plan level.

4. Affiliates by Itthinx: modular program setup

Itthinx Affiliates plugin

Itthinx Affiliates describes registration, an affiliate dashboard, reporting and an extension ecosystem. Examine the exact integration you need: a free tracking plugin alone may not deliver every connection or payout feature in your business plan.

Run a complete test before recruitment

  1. Set a clear commission policy, cookie window and rules for self-referrals and coupon attribution.
  2. Complete a test purchase through a referral link; check tracking with consent settings and caching enabled.
  3. Refund the order and confirm the commission is reversed or adjusted as expected.
  4. Review how affiliates submit tax/payment information and how payouts are reconciled.
  5. Publish affiliate terms and provide compliant promotional materials and disclosure instructions.

What this guide does not compare

The earlier edition mixed merchant tools with ThirstyAffiliates, which is designed to manage links when you promote somebody else’s products. It is not an affiliate program manager for paying partners. The old article also quoted vendor prices and “lifetime” license claims that are no longer presented as current without rechecking each offer.

If your actual goal is to earn commissions by recommending products, see our separate WordPress affiliate link management comparison.
