Coupon Maker Design: Build Offers Customers Can Use
Design a readable coupon, create a working redemption code and test checkout. Use clear terms, useful QR links and campaign tracking.

Start with the offer, not the artwork
A coupon maker creates a design; it does not automatically create a valid store discount. Decide eligible products, expiry, minimum spend and usage limits first. Configure the discount in your selling system before distributing the design.
An illustrative offer might say “Save 10% on selected accessories with WELCOME10.” Replace the sample with your own real code and accurate terms. A design that promises more than checkout delivers creates friction.
Make the coupon readable at its final size
- Emphasize the main benefit.
- Show the code as selectable text on a web page.
- Keep expiry and important restrictions legible.
- Use strong contrast and avoid small text over busy images.
- State whether redemption happens online or in store.
Preview at actual phone width and print size. A large design canvas can hide readability problems.
Create and test the WooCommerce coupon
Use WooCommerce coupon management to configure the discount type, restrictions and usage limits. Extensions can alter the available settings and checkout experience.
- Create a unique campaign code.
- Test eligible and ineligible carts.
- Check expiry, minimum spend and usage limits.
- Review tax and shipping presentation.
- Place a test order and confirm the recorded discount.
Use QR codes as a route to the offer
A QR code normally opens a URL; it does not inherently apply a discount. Send visitors to a mobile-friendly page with the code, eligible products and a shopping action. If using an auto-apply mechanism, test it in a fresh session.
Print a readable URL beside the QR code and scan a physical proof. Customers need another route if their camera cannot read the design.
Track results and handle expiry honestly
Measure redemptions and order value after discounts, not just clicks. A popular offer is not automatically profitable. When the campaign ends, explain that on the landing page and link to relevant products. Do not repeatedly reset a deadline to imply false scarcity.
