Embed Tableau in WordPress using the right sharing method. Check public data, authenticated access, responsive sizing and script permissions.

Choose public or authenticated sharing first
You can embed a Tableau dashboard in WordPress, but its underlying permissions still matter. Tableau Public is for public sharing. Do not publish confidential data there and rely on an obscure WordPress URL to hide it.
For restricted reporting, use an appropriately configured Tableau Cloud or Server deployment and supported authentication. A WordPress page password does not itself change the Tableau view’s permissions.
Use the current Tableau embed options
Start with the intended dashboard’s sharing controls. Tableau’s Embedding API v3 uses the tableau-viz component for richer integration. An iframe can suit a supported view, but is not a substitute for authentication configuration.
Use code generated for your own view. Never paste credentials or secret tokens into public page source. Review Tableau Public publishing guidance before uploading data.
Add the visualization to WordPress
- Create a draft with an introduction to the dataset.
- Use a Custom HTML block for permitted markup, or an approved integration.
- If a script is required, load it through a supported site integration or developer-managed plugin.
- Test with an account that has the same access as your viewers.
- Check a logged-out session to confirm the intended restrictions.
WordPress may strip scripts or frames based on capability, hosting policy or security settings. Investigate those restrictions rather than disabling protections just to preserve a snippet.
Make the dashboard page useful on mobile
Test the actual narrow layout and supported device options. Fixed-height frames can cut off filters or create nested scrolling. Check keyboard operation and reserve space to reduce layout shifts.
Provide a text summary of the reporting period, key measures and limitations. Search and AI systems may not interpret an interactive chart as reliably as ordinary text. The page should make sense without operating the dashboard.
