WordPress Star Rating Plugins: Choose the Right Type
Compare post ratings, customer reviews and WooCommerce product reviews. Understand moderation and Google review-snippet limits before choosing a plugin.
Reviewed 27 September 2026.
Ratings, reviews and search stars are different
A star-voting widget lets visitors rate content. A review system collects feedback with text and moderation. Search-result stars depend on a search engine’s eligibility rules and are not guaranteed by installing either type.
Choose the data you need before choosing the display. Do not create aggregate ratings from invented votes or reuse unrelated testimonials as product reviews.
A focused plugin shortlist
| Option | Evaluate for | Check |
|---|---|---|
| kk Star Ratings | Visitor ratings on posts | Voting rules and where ratings appear |
| Site Reviews | Submitted reviews with text | Moderation, assignments and required extensions |
| WooCommerce product reviews | Feedback attached to store products | Store settings and verified-owner workflow |
Read current directory maintenance and compatibility information. Test with your theme instead of choosing by the number of stars in a plugin’s own listing.
Google review-snippet eligibility
Google’s review-snippet documentation limits eligible content and explains self-serving-review restrictions for LocalBusiness and Organization markup. An ordinary blog-post rating does not automatically qualify for rich-result stars.
Structured data must reflect visible, relevant content. Check for duplicate schema from the theme, rating plugin and SEO plugin. A successful validation test establishes syntax or eligibility checks, not guaranteed display.
Test moderation and abuse controls
- Submit a sample review as a visitor.
- Check required fields, errors and mobile labels.
- Approve, reject and edit through the intended moderation process.
- Check duplicate-vote controls without assuming they prevent every abuse.
- Confirm visible totals match the underlying records.
- Review export and deletion options.
Make feedback useful
Ask a clear question and show the context of the rating. Keep customer reviews attached to the relevant product or service. Use feedback to improve the page, not merely as decorative stars.
For broader technical configuration, use our SEO settings guide; run only one system for overlapping schema tasks.

I’m stil using KK-star rating, but this plugin give me:
– slow loading admin-ajax.php
– increase of 403 error page because not compatible with cache enabler plugin.

You can whitelist the js file of the rating plugin in cache settings if your cache allows it.
