Marketplace WordPress Themes: Match the Business Model
Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through one, WPNeon earns a commission at no extra cost to you. See how we review.
A marketplace theme is not a marketplace business system. A polished storefront cannot by itself settle vendor commissions, approve sellers, handle refunds or resolve disputes. Decide whether you are building a multi-vendor shop, digital-download marketplace, freelance jobs platform or freight exchange before choosing the theme.
Research note: the themes below are existing product leads, not independently tested marketplace deployments. Confirm sales availability, latest updates and every required plugin with the vendor before purchase.
Start with the transaction model
Several sellers, one retail checkout: choose a WooCommerce multi-vendor extension, then a compatible theme. Multiple digital creators: verify product delivery, licensing and vendor commission support. Freelance jobs: test proposals, dispute handling and payment flows. Freight exchange: validate carrier onboarding, quotes and regulatory responsibilities.
Theme examples by marketplace type
| Theme | Project type | Critical dependency |
|---|---|---|
| REHub | Comparison, affiliate and marketplace-style projects | Current vendor and ecommerce plugin integration. |
| Martfury | Retail product catalog | A separately configured multi-vendor extension. |
| Mayosis | Digital-product storefront | Download licensing, delivery and multi-seller workflows. |
| HireBee | Freelance job marketplace | Job workflow, payment and maintenance history. |
| ShipMe | Shipping or carrier exchange | Quotes, carrier vetting and dispute process. |
1. REHub: comparison and commerce layouts

REHub is marketed across comparison, affiliate and commerce-style use cases. Check which demos suit your exact model and whether features rely on separate vendor plugins. A theme that displays several product offers is not automatically capable of processing vendor settlements.
2. Martfury: physical-product storefront

Martfury presents a retail catalog style. Confirm the current compatibility matrix for Dokan, WC Vendors or whichever multi-vendor extension you choose. Test an order with products from two separate sellers, delivery charges, returns and the resulting payouts.
3. Mayosis: digital-download presentation

Mayosis targets downloadable products. Check license-key delivery, file permissions, seller uploads, refund rules and tax treatment before treating a demo as a working creator marketplace. If all products are your own, you may need only a regular digital-download store.
4. HireBee: freelance projects

HireBee is an example from the freelance marketplace category. Before purchase, verify the current release history and test how employers publish projects, freelancers respond, fees are collected and disputes are resolved. Do not assume an old mention of Stripe Connect or escrow remains valid today.
5. ShipMe: a transport exchange

ShipMe is aimed at matching shipping requests with carriers. Shipping marketplaces need more than listings: confirm quote handling, identity checks, delivery confirmations, fees and the responsibilities your business assumes in each jurisdiction.

Test the marketplace plugin before paying for a theme
The official WooCommerce Product Vendors documentation distinguishes the vendor system from the store’s visual theme; Dokan and WC Vendors likewise advertise specialized vendor dashboards and commission management. Choose one transaction system, check its compatible themes, and create a staging test with at least two sellers. Verify onboarding, order allocation, fees, refunds, notifications and payout records.
The original 18-item roundup included old compatibility and instant-launch claims that are not retained as current recommendations. For a carrier-specific project, also see our logistics theme guide; for affiliate referral software rather than a vendor marketplace, read affiliate program plugins.
